About the role

Johnson Controls, a global leader in thermal management, mission-critical building systems, energy efficiency, and decarbonization, seeks a skilled Fire Sprinkler Service Technician to join our team. This position involves receiving service calls from the Service Resource Center, diagnosing and repairing sprinkler systems, and adhering to safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Receive service calls from the Service Resource Center
  • Contact customer representatives to ascertain equipment/system issues
  • Perform service and repairs on various types of sprinkler systems (wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, fire pumps)
  • Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical manuals and other resources
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and operational product manuals
  • Show strong customer service skills, organizational abilities, and a positive attitude
  • Work independently and demonstrate the ability to learn quickly
  • Work flexible hours, including weekends, and may require overnight travel
  • Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely responses to customer needs
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures
  • Carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, such as climbing ladders and scaffolding

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of documented experience in Fire Sprinkler service industry
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Able to work flexible hours, including weekends
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely responses
  • Ability to follow, read, and understand all safety requirements
  • Capable of performing physical labor, including carrying and moving heavy equipment and tools
  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions

Qualifications

  • NICET Level II certification (preferred)
  • Backflow certification (preferred)

Skills

  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and diagrams
  • Excellent customer service and organizational skills
  • Physical stamina and ability to work in awkward positions
