Sprinkler Service Technician

About the role

Installation, service, and troubleshooting of fire sprinkler systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.

Responsibilities

• Install fire sprinkler systems and related equipment
• Service and troubleshoot automatic fire sprinkler systems
• Direct and/or participate in trenching and repair of underground mains, including backfilling and tamping
• Accurately complete, execute, and process required paperwork (electronic or paperless)
• Ensure all equipment, including specialty valves and fire pumps, is installed in strict compliance with manufacturer’s requirements
• Conduct and coordinate necessary system testing
• Ensure required certifications are complete
• Maintain open communication with customers and provide information as required
• Perform all other assigned duties
• Adhere to daily safety practices and company mission, values, and business plan
• Ensure timely and complete submittal of JSAs, Toolbox Talks, Audit Forms, and incident/accident reports
• Hold yourself accountable for safety initiatives and safe driving of company vehicles
• Support Stop Work Authority and complete all training requirements
• Ensure all documents are complete, accurate, and professional
• Maintain and care for equipment (trucks, lifts, tools, etc.)
• Keep jobsites clean and organized
• Monitor production efficiency (budget vs. actual labor hours) and communicate proactively with superintendents
• Support and adhere to company SOPs (Purchase Orders, Change Orders, etc.)
• Ensure timeliness (on-time arrival, attendance, communication with supervisors, and paperwork)
• Maintain customer satisfaction and respond to feedback from Customer Satisfaction Surveys
• Maintain quality control to reduce return trips and warranty work
• Maintain a professional appearance and communicate effectively with internal and external customers
• Demonstrate teamwork through positive interactions and active participation in team meetings
• Work overtime, out-of-town, or on-call as needed

Requirements

• Knowledge of fire sprinkler piping systems, including fabrication of related piping and various materials/joining methods
• Understanding of fire protection installation requirements
• Ability to read fire protection blueprints
• Minimum education: High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid state driver’s license and good driving record
• Self-motivated, ambitious, interactive, communicative, detail-oriented, and organized
• Knowledgeable with NFPA 13 rules and all necessary codes
• Ability to interact professionally with trades, customers, project managers, county officials, and general contractors
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team, lead, and mentor others
• Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment
• Ability to complete projects on time while ensuring high-quality work and customer satisfaction

Qualifications

• American Fire Sprinkler Association training program for fire sprinkler foreman (preferred)
• Certified state/federally-accredited Foreman (preferred)
• State Backflow testing and repair certification (preferred)
• Forklift and scissor lift certification (preferred)
• NICET II & III certification (preferred)
• Understanding of NFPA codes and standards
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a fire sprinkler helper (preferred)
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a fire sprinkler apprentice/fitter (preferred)
