Sprinkler Designer

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $37-$48 (Hourly rate determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and market data.)

About the role

The Sprinkler Designer prepares detailed Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings to ensure the efficient and effective placement of products and systems.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and contracts.
• Interpret and apply applicable NFPA standards to the design and/or layout of sprinkler systems based on building type, construction type, hazard classification, and architectural features.
• Design and layout sprinkler systems using specialized CAD software packages based on the AutoCAD platform; coordinate sprinkler system piping with other building components and perform hydraulic calculations.
• Perform field checks of completed designs to verify accuracy.
• Work closely with district contracting teams to understand customer contracts, design process scheduling, and installation crew delivery needs; coordinate system material deliveries to meet the optimum installation start date.
• Mentor others in proper sprinkler design execution using acquired experience, proficiency, and knowledge.
• Assist sales in design estimations.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1-5 years of fire sprinkler design experience.
• Working experience with AutoCAD, HydraCAD, Sprinkler Design Software, or equivalent sprinkler design software.

Qualifications

• Ability to solve basic math problems, including geometry and algebra.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office, Sprinkler Design Software, and hydraulic calculation programs.
• Interpret and apply applicable NFPA standards for Automatic Sprinkler System Layout.
• NICET Level II (or higher) certification in Water-Based Systems Layout (preferred).
