Key Responsibilities
- Apply pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and fertilizers to golf course turf.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all chemical applications.
- Mix and prepare chemicals in accordance with manufacturers' instructions and safety standards.
- Operate and maintain sprayers, spreaders, and other chemical application equipment.
- Ensure equipment is calibrated correctly for even distribution and to avoid over-application or wastage.
- Follow all safety protocols related to chemical application, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Inspect the turf regularly to detect signs of disease, pests, or nutrient deficiencies.
- Report any concerns or irregularities in the health of the turf to golf course management.
- Work closely with the grounds crew and golf course superintendent to plan and schedule treatments.
- Provide recommendations to the management team regarding turf care and maintenance strategies.
- Assist with other golf course maintenance tasks when needed, such as mowing or irrigation.
Requirements
- Previous experience in turf management, golf course maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with pesticide and fertilizer application techniques, turfgrass management, and equipment operation.
- Depending on location, a pesticide applicator's license or certification may be required.
- Ability to operate spraying and fertilization equipment, good attention to detail, and strong problem-solving skills.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
- A degree or certification in agronomy, horticulture, turf management, or a related field is a plus.
- 2-3 years experience in related field.
