Key Responsibilities

  • Apply pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and fertilizers to golf course turf.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all chemical applications.
  • Mix and prepare chemicals in accordance with manufacturers' instructions and safety standards.
  • Operate and maintain sprayers, spreaders, and other chemical application equipment.
  • Ensure equipment is calibrated correctly for even distribution and to avoid over-application or wastage.
  • Follow all safety protocols related to chemical application, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Inspect the turf regularly to detect signs of disease, pests, or nutrient deficiencies.
  • Report any concerns or irregularities in the health of the turf to golf course management.
  • Work closely with the grounds crew and golf course superintendent to plan and schedule treatments.
  • Provide recommendations to the management team regarding turf care and maintenance strategies.
  • Assist with other golf course maintenance tasks when needed, such as mowing or irrigation.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in turf management, golf course maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with pesticide and fertilizer application techniques, turfgrass management, and equipment operation.
  • Depending on location, a pesticide applicator's license or certification may be required.
  • Ability to operate spraying and fertilization equipment, good attention to detail, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
  • A degree or certification in agronomy, horticulture, turf management, or a related field is a plus.
  • 2-3 years experience in related field.
