Spotter /Night Shift / Tuesday-Friday /Austell

Summary

This position has primary responsibility for all dropped trailer movements for the ABW warehouse and any site Copack operations. The spotter follows all safety, quality, food‑safety, and food‑defense procedures, setting the example for safe operations while meeting business assignments and objectives. The role requires the ability to multi‑task, be self‑motivated, work well under pressure, and ensure the warehouse continues operating without interruption due to trailer unavailability.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform pre‑trip inspection on the tractors each shift prior to use:
  • Check oil
  • Check transmission fluid
  • Check hydraulic fluid levels
  • Check for leaks underneath the tractors
  • Verify mirror placement
  • Clear water from the air lines
• Follow all safety procedures and requirements:
  • Use all required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
  • Wear high‑visibility vest as outer wear at all times while working
  • Prohibit any riders or other persons on the yard tractor while using
  • Conduct tug tests on all trailers
  • Slow down on the yard as appropriate
  • Always use both air lines
  • Ensure the 5th wheel is flush with the trailer to avoid missing the king pin
  • Maintain trailer lift high enough to clear all obstacles
  • Verify trailer doors are secure prior to moving the trailer
• Prioritize trailer movements:
  • Prioritize inbounds based on Team Lead input and direction to keep trailers available
  • Prioritize outbounds by appointment time or Team Lead direction
• Communicate daily with Customer Service Representatives, providing the warehouse trailer shortage list.
• Depending upon workload, perform general warehouse functions reporting to the Warehouse Operations Team Lead.

• WHS Management Software
• Computer skills in spreadsheet and word‑processing software
• Multi‑tasking and directing others
• Trailer backing‑up skills
• General Warehouse Operator role

Minimum Education or Training Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• For Greenville and Kennesaw (KDF) sites, a CDL license is required
