Spot Welder - Sheet Metal Industry

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Use Spot Welding equipment; apply two shaped copper alloy electrodes to concentrate welding current into a small "spot" and to simultaneously clamp the sheets together.
• Force a large current through the spot to melt the metal and form the weld.
• Install proper electrodes on the spot-welding machine.
• Adjust controls for proper heat, pressure settings, and timing of current.
• Use the proper amount of heat to match the sheet's material properties, thickness, and type of electrodes.
• Work from routings, prints, or instructions.
• Inspect work using a micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments.
• Examine welded components for any defects.
• Deliver the first piece to inspection for verification of dimensions and weld accuracy.
• Responsible for producing the highest level of quality, utilizing control plans, customer drawings, and appropriate work instructions.
• Supervise and identify any faults in operating the equipment or in relation to any material or equipment, then notify the supervisors.

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years’ experience in Spot Welding preferred.
• Excellent people skills, with an ability to partner with the leadership team.
• Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to the mission.
• Bend and lift, load and unload work pieces into the machine, and move from one workstation to another, alternately sitting and standing.
