About the Role
A Spot Weld Operator is responsible for setting up and operating a spot weld machine/gun. The operator will change and file gun tips, adjust welder settings, and program the machine for each job. They will position parts in the tip or load and unload parts in fixtures, activate the welder, and use a grinder to remove excess weld beads. The operator will also verify product quality by inspecting and measuring parts according to specifications.
Responsibilities
- Follow safety and environmental procedures.
- Arrive at work on time as scheduled.
- Communicate proficiently.
- Accurately read and use quality tools to ensure parts meet standards.
- Examine welds and unload parts to verify product quality.
- Use a computer to enter part information and inventory in the ERP system.
- Operate spot weld technology and equipment.
- Load, set up, and operate spot welding equipment.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance, repairs, and setup to minimize downtime.
- Inspect welds during the welding process.
- Inspect and green tag the first piece produced.
- Execute tasks according to the scheduling board.
- Use a motorized walking stacker.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to operate cranes and overhead hoists.
- Ability to use quality inspection equipment.
- Proficient in basic math and computer skills.
