Sports Instructor

About the role

Under the general supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, organizes, supervises and instructs a sports program and participants.

Responsibilities

• Educate participants to learn new skills in games, sports and other recreation activities
• Responsible for the care, condition and use of materials, equipment, tools, etc.
• Make decisions affecting the activities of people
• Handle contacts requiring tact and judgment to avoid friction and to handle complaints
• Maintain frequent contacts involved in carrying out the program
• Communicate effectively with all age groups
• Regularly use program equipment; occasionally use a copy machine and telephone
• Follow written and verbal instructions

Requirements

• Some experience in job‑related activities
• Must be 15 years of age or older to apply per city requirements
• Knowledge of games, sports, recreation activities, leadership, team building, and self‑motivation skills
• Problem‑solving skills
• Proper English usage, speaking, and teaching abilities
• General knowledge of first aid and CPR

Qualifications

• Knowledgeable in Street Hockey, Pickleball, Soccer, Basketball, and Volleyball

Pay

$17.44 – $27.91 per hour

Schedule

Part‑time (non‑benefitted, <29 hours/week); variety of morning and evening shifts available.
