Sporting Goods Associate

About the Role

Responsible for conducting firearm transactions in adherence to all state and federal laws and regulations by following company policies. Maintains customer service standards, generates sales, and performs housekeeping, merchandising, pricing, point-of-sale operations, freight processing, and loss prevention.

Responsibilities

• Greet and acknowledge every customer, answer questions, and help customers locate products.
• Demonstrate explicit knowledge of Gun Store Master and state-mandated background check processes.
• Complete all firearm transfers (sales) in accordance with company policy and state laws.
• Properly and safely handle all firearms.
• Complete all purchase transactions correctly, especially those involving firearms.
• Answer incoming phone calls and maintain constant radio communication with associates.
• Possess comprehensive knowledge of products sold by Country Supplier (CAL Ranch & Coastal Farm and Ranch).
• Maintain awareness of product knowledge, promotions, and merchandising.
• Assist in floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance, and store housekeeping.
• Help in other departments as needed.
• Perform daily cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, replacing trash bags, and sweeping.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of proper firearms handling skills.
• Proven written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt to rapidly changing work environments and shift priorities.
• Familiarity with computer systems and email.
• Familiarity with standard retail concepts and practices preferred.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Must be at least 21 years of age to comply with firearm and ammunition handling requirements.
