Sponsorship Specialist
About the role
The Sponsorship Specialist supports the day-to-day operations, communications, and onsite execution of OTW and other tournament events. This role serves as a primary support contact for anglers, internal teams, local partners, dealers, vendors, and event staff.
Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day OTW communications and angler support for Texas Team Trail and assigned tournament events.
- Serve as a key contact for angler questions related to rules, registration issues, event details, schedules, and general tournament information.
- Aid in onsite event payouts, calculations, payout review, and related documentation to ensure accuracy and timely execution.
- Coordinate event logistics, including staffing plans, hotel needs, volunteer sourcing, local staffing support, and onsite event requirements.
- Coordinate local dealer coordination, including communication, event support needs, activation details, and dealer participation.
- Aid in OTW website updates, email blasts, event communications, angler updates, and other pre-event or post-event messaging.
- Track event KPIs, recap information, participation details, and operational results to support reporting and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate product orders and onsite supply needs, including water, power, equipment, signage, event materials, and other operational requirements.
- Provide app support related to registration, angler communication, event standings, check-in, weigh-in support, and other tournament technology needs.
- Partner with Tournament Director, Assistant Tournament Director, Sponsorship, Marketing, Social Media, Production, and Event Operations teams to support successful event execution.
- Support onsite setup, registration, takeoff, weigh-in, awards, teardown, and post-event wrap-up as needed.
- Maintain strong customer service and professionalism when working with anglers, dealers, volunteers, vendors, partners, and internal Outfitters.
Qualifications
- Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Preferred Degree: Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Sports Management, Communications, Hospitality, Event Management, or related field
- Certificate(s) or License(s): Valid driver’s license preferred
- Experience: 2–4 years of experience in event coordination, marketing support, sponsorship activation, customer service, tournament operations, outdoor events, or related field preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong organizational and time management skills required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required
- Ability to provide excellent customer service to anglers, partners, vendors, dealers, and internal teams
- Ability to manage multiple event details, timelines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail, especially related to payouts, registrations, logistics, reporting, and event documentation
- Knowledge of fishing tournaments, competitive angling, boating, or outdoor events preferred
- Ability to work cross-functionally with Marketing, Sponsorship, Social Media, Event Operations, Production, Customer Service, dealers, and third-party partners
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Comfortable learning and supporting event registration platforms, apps, websites, email systems, and tournament technology
- Must be a self-starter who takes ownership of assigned projects and follows through on details
- Enthusiasm for the outdoors and fishing industry preferred

Physical Requirements
- Regularly performs computer work and sits
- Frequently walks and stands during onsite events
- Occasionally lifts, pushes, or pulls event materials, supplies, and equipment up to 50 lbs
- May work outdoors in varying weather conditions during tournament events
- May be required to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and extended hours during event weeks
Independent Judgement
Performs tasks and duties under general supervision, using established procedures and sound judgment to support event operations, communications, and onsite execution. Chooses from limited alternatives to resolve routine problems and escalates complex issues to the Tournament Director, Assistant Tournament Director, or Manager. Occasional independent judgment is required to complete assignments, support anglers, resolve event logistics needs, and make recommendations to improve processes, communication, and event execution.
