Sponsor Funded Educational Program Specialist

This position is located at the Dunwoody GSU Perimeter College Campus and is sponsor-funded through the TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) programs, which are federally funded by the United States Department of Education. The role focuses on increasing retention and graduation rates for college students who demonstrate academic need and are either first-generation, low-income, and/or have a documented disability.

About the role

The Educational Program Specialist is responsible for providing holistic services to TRIO SSS participants, advocating for and empowering them toward self-sufficiency. This includes needs assessments and advisement in academic, financial, career, social, and personal development.

Responsibilities

• Identify and recruit eligible participants for the TRIO SSS Program.
• Maintain a caseload of students and meet regularly to provide academic, career, social/personal, financial, and transfer/graduate/professional school advisement.
• Develop, plan, and facilitate seminars and workshops for program participants.
• Coordinate academic, cultural, and educational services/activities to meet program objectives.
• Maintain detailed and accurate records of program data required for federal reporting purposes.
• Generate monthly reports and assist the Director with annual performance reporting.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Make oral presentations to undergraduate-level students.
• Advise first-generation college students and individuals with disabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and one year of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone, and in writing.
• Local travel between campuses may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree and two years’ experience counseling low-income, academically under-prepared high school or college students in a postsecondary educational or community-based human service agency.

Pay

$43,100 per year.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:15 PM.
