Splicer I Fiber

Location: Henderson, KY – this position requires 75% travel.

About the role

As a Fiber Splicer at Ervin Cable Construction, LLC, you’ll complete the process of fusing optical fibers to maintain our telecommunication networks. Your splicing work is essential for keeping strong and reliable connections, ensuring data travels seamlessly through our continually growing network.

Responsibilities

• Perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground, with guidance
• Test, activate, and troubleshoot the network’s circuit post-installation
• Ensure all splicing operations meet strict customer and industry standards
• Safely navigate working at different heights, from underground to aerial environments
• Complete basic daily maintenance of vehicles, including fluid checks
• Document work performed through daily production reports, including marking up maps and recording material usage
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
• Valid State driver’s license (cannot be Provisional) with an acceptable driving record
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card
• 6 months of splicing experience or one year of experience in the telecommunications industry

Qualifications

• Certified pole climber or capable of demonstrating proficiency as a pole climber (preferred)
• Knowledge of telecommunications network structure

Physical Abilities & Exposures

• Routinely: work at heights, occasional entry into attics and crawl spaces, work alone in remote locations, operate vehicles and heavy machinery, perform fine hand motions, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs, and lift up to 55 pounds without assistance
• Occasionally: work in confined spaces, use ladders and gaffs for climbing poles, keyboard and mouse use
