Splicer I Fiber

About the role

At Ervin Cable Construction, LLC, you'll join our team as a Fiber Splicer, responsible for maintaining our telecommunication networks by fusing optical fibers. Your work is crucial for ensuring seamless data transmission through our expanding network.

Responsibilities

• Perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground
• Test, activate, and troubleshoot the network’s circuits post-installation
• Ensure all splicing operations meet strict customer and industry standards
• Safely navigate working at different heights, from underground to in the air
• Complete basic daily maintenance of vehicles, including fluid checks
• Document work performed through daily production reports, including marking up maps and keeping correct material usage records
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
• Valid State driver's license (cannot be considered Provisional)
• Pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card
• 6 months of splicing experience or one year of experience in the telecommunications industry

Qualifications

• Preferred certification as a certified pole climber or demonstrated proficiency in pole climbing
• Knowledge of telecommunications network structure
• Physical abilities to work at heights, in confined spaces, and alone in remote locations
• Ability to use ladders, gaffs for climbing poles, and operate a keyboard and mouse
