Responsibilities

  • Work within a Structural Test Lab Machine Shop environment
  • Construct, fabricate, assemble, troubleshoot, and maintain equipment, components, or devices
  • Work from schematics, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions
  • Provide material selection, machining process, design improvement suggestions to designers
  • Operate a wide variety of shop tools and equipment (CNC and manual mills, lathes, saws, drill presses, etc.)
  • Fabricate or modify parts to very close tolerances to support exacting test requirements
  • Work effectively and supportively in a team environment while being able to work independently with minimal oversight

Qualifications

  • Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
    • 5+ years of experience running milling machines or related technical experience
    • Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance and Special Program Access (for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship)
  • Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
    • Senior (Level 4): 10+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • 2- year Associate's Degree from Trade and/or Technical School
    • Proficiency with MasterCam
    • CNC Operator background
    • Highly skilled at operating manual and CNC mills, and other tools and equipment, safely with minimal oversight
    • Experience with or be willing to learn machine shop type equipment (drills, saws, sanders, etc.), ovens and autoclaves, overhead cranes, forklifts, and other equipment
    • Familiarity with aerospace specifications
    • Experience with FTIR, GDS, GCMS instrumentation
    • Previous OSHA/ Safety HAZ MAT Training/Certifications
    • Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings or schematics
    • Independently build or fabricate engineering test parts based on engineering drawings
    • Propose solutions to engineering requirements
    • Coordinate lifting of items and assemblies, some potentially heavy, either individually, with other personnel or specialty lifting devices including overhead cranes
    • Work with potentially hazardous equipment or on potentially hazardous test activities, following all safety equipment and processes mandated for those activities
    • Training and/or Certifications in MasterCam, CATIA, CNC Operation, NC Programming
