SUMMARY
To ensure quality services are provided in accordance with all federal, state and corporate standards and regulations. Plan and provide speech-language pathology services to clients with speech, voice, or language disorders, dysphagia, and other related disorders.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Carry out independent evaluations to assess clients with speech or language disorders, dysphagia, and/or other related conditions to determine needed services.
- Develop clinical recommendations and strategies by interpreting observations and data.
- Participate in the Admission, annual review, and as needed concerns for each client to provide interpretation of assessment data, acute and persistent concerns, and goal setting for clients with communication disorders, dysphagia, or other applicable conditions.
- Collaborate with each client’s Circle of Support to plan and implement activities to improve communication skills of clients.
- Provide professional development to help employees identify and understand communication deficits and potential dysphagia hazards in clients.
- Participate in developing and implementing dysphagia training in employee orientation, including but not limited to a review of swallowing concerns and altered meal plan needs.
- Aid in the selection of equipment and instructional materials.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents.
- Comply with CMS and DIDD regulations established by federal and state laws.
- Participate in professional development activities to maintain compliance with CMS and DIDD regulations, such as Protection From Harm.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education & Experience:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Tennessee license as a speech-pathologist granted by the State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (SBESLPA), and
- Certificate of clinical competence from the American Speech-Language- Hearing Association (ASHA).
- Physical Requirements:
- Repetitive hand movements; tasks may include but not limited to, long periods of typing or writing, light lifting, bending, squatting, etc.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Normal Office Environment
