Speech Pathologist PRN Pediatrics

Evaluates and treats

• Speech, language, cognitive, swallowing and voice disordered patients with neurologic etiology.
• Provides evaluation and management for all patients with dysphagia.
• Evaluation techniques include clinical evaluation, Modified Barium Swallow and FEES (Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of the Swallow).

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from accredited college or university.
• 1 year directly related experience in a medical setting.
• Focus should include pediatric speech-language and pediatric swallowing disorders.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Advanced knowledge in speech pathology theories, practices, and techniques.
• Skilled in oral and written communication.
• Ability to administer, score and interpret standardized speech, language and cognitive tests.
• Ability to document services rendered including written patient evaluation, reports and patient progress notes on patient’s chart.
• Ability to consult with other professionals and generate appropriate referrals.
• Ability to conduct demonstrations and lectures within and outside the hospital.
• Ability to assist with cataloguing and interpreting of all video fluoroscopic swallowing studies within the department.
• Ability to conduct quality assurance studies in conjunction with the Speech Pathology Clinical Manager.

Physical Requirements

• Audio-visual acuity to be able to read small print and perform perceptual diagnostic assessments.
• Ability to reach, stoop, crouch, walk and stand.

Working Conditions

• Clinical and office conditions.
• Exposure to radiation in acceptable amounts as monitored by a qualified laboratory.

Licenses, Certifications

• Certification of Clinical Competency in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association.
• A State of Maryland License in Speech-Language Pathology.

Education

Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from accredited college or university.

Experience

1 year directly related experience in a medical setting.

Focus

Focus should include pediatric speech-language and pediatric swallowing disorders.

Pay Range

$30.06 - $49.29
