Evaluates and treats
- Speech, language, cognitive, swallowing and voice disordered patients with neurologic etiology.
- Provides evaluation and management for all patients with dysphagia.
- Evaluation techniques include clinical evaluation, Modified Barium Swallow and FEES (Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of the Swallow).
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from accredited college or university.
- 1 year directly related experience in a medical setting.
- Focus should include pediatric speech-language and pediatric swallowing disorders.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Advanced knowledge in speech pathology theories, practices, and techniques.
- Skilled in oral and written communication.
- Ability to administer, score and interpret standardized speech, language and cognitive tests.
- Ability to document services rendered including written patient evaluation, reports and patient progress notes on patient’s chart.
- Ability to consult with other professionals and generate appropriate referrals.
- Ability to conduct demonstrations and lectures within and outside the hospital.
- Ability to assist with cataloguing and interpreting of all video fluoroscopic swallowing studies within the department.
- Ability to conduct quality assurance studies in conjunction with the Speech Pathology Clinical Manager.
Physical Requirements
- Audio-visual acuity to be able to read small print and perform perceptual diagnostic assessments.
- Ability to reach, stoop, crouch, walk and stand.
Working Conditions
- Clinical and office conditions.
- Exposure to radiation in acceptable amounts as monitored by a qualified laboratory.
Licenses, Certifications
- Certification of Clinical Competency in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association.
- A State of Maryland License in Speech-Language Pathology.
Education
Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from accredited college or university.
Experience
1 year directly related experience in a medical setting.
Focus
Focus should include pediatric speech-language and pediatric swallowing disorders.
Pay Range
$30.06 - $49.29
