Responsibilities

  • Assists the speech-language pathologist with speech-language and hearing screening assessments, examinations, and testing (without clinical interpretation of results)
  • Records speech, language, and swallowing irregularities as directed by the supervising speech-language pathologist
  • Documents or records information on the treatment, performance, progress, and discharge of students
  • Executes specific components of a speech and language program as specified in an individualized treatment plan
  • Implements augmentative or alternative communication methods and instruction, including automated devices, computer technology, and sign language
  • Teaches the use of these methods to students with little or no speech capability or who have limited English proficiency
  • Performs clerical duties, as directed by the speech-language pathologist
  • Collects data
  • Exhibits compliance with regulations, reimbursement requirements, and speech-language pathology assistant's job responsibilities
  • Supports the supervising speech-language pathologist in research projects, in-service training, and public relations programs

Qualifications

  • Speech-Language Pathology Assistant License
  • Community College and/or Vocational School degree with study in job related area
  • Fingerprint and Background Check Clearance
  • Pre-employment proficiency test
  • CPR/First Aid
  • Valid Driver's License and Evidence of Insurability

Pay

Salary with Bachelor's degree - $53,099

Salary without Bachelor's degree - $50,710
