About the role
Select Specialty Hospital - York is a critical illness recovery hospital dedicated to providing world-class inpatient post-ICU services to chronically ill patients. Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) are integral in offering compassionate, high-quality care throughout the recovery process.
Responsibilities
- Takes initiative, responsibility, and action daily, understanding the physical, mental, psychological, and social needs of patients.
- Evaluates and treats communication skills and/or swallowing function to maximize potential.
- Maintains an inventory of supplies and assists in developing the SLP role within programs and services.
- Participates in peer reviews and appraisals, and assists in revising departmental policies and procedures.
- Shares professional knowledge and experiences, and alerts the Manager to educational needs.
Requirements
- Current state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
- Certified BLS or completion within the first 90 days of employment.
Qualifications
- Understanding of communication skills, evaluation, and treatment.
- Desire to collaborate with colleagues for interdisciplinary patient programming.
