Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)

About the Role

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) provides direct rehabilitation care in speech therapy to patients upon physician referral, adhering to all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited program in speech therapy (minimum MS or MA SLP).
• ASHA certified (CCCs) OR eligible for a 9-month Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) to earn ASHA certification (CCCs) and/or meet ASHA credentialing criteria. Must maintain ASHA credentialing once achieved.
• Currently registered/licensed in the applicable State. Must maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment.
• One (1) year of experience preferred; new graduates are welcome to apply.
• CPR certification upon hire or obtained during orientation. Certification must remain current during employment.

Responsibilities

• Participate in community health matters/projects as appropriate.
• Liaise with patients, families, and support departments to adequately plan for patient needs.
• Demonstrate good body mechanics at all times.
• Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department.
• Perform proficiently in all competency areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation.
• Maintain professional working relationships with associates, vendors, etc.
• Maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
• Adhere to company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures.
• Display integrity and professionalism by following Life Care’s Code of Conduct and completing mandatory training.

Essential Functions

• Establish, assess, and modify realistic, measurable, timely, and functional goals (SLP CCC only).
• Oversee and evaluate care given by SLP CFYs (SLP CCC only).
• Follow speech therapy treatment plans for patients under the direction of the supervising SLP CCC and in accordance with Federal and State guidelines (SLP CFY only).
• Chart appropriately and timely.
• Utilize therapy software accurately.
• Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude toward patients.
• Assist in the evacuation of patients.
• Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance.
• Concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment.
• Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team.
• Perform physical tasks intermittently during working hours, including sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, walking, and reaching.
• Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
