Speech Language Pathologist - Schools
About the role
The Speech-Language Pathologist in the school setting is responsible for performing student evaluations as well as providing and documenting therapy services in accordance with the plan of care developed for each individual student and the physician's orders.
Responsibilities
- Perform student evaluations
- Provide and document therapy services
- Develop and implement treatment plans based on evaluations
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive care
- Document progress and outcomes in compliance with professional standards and contractual requirements
Requirements
- Active Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) licensure in the state of assignment required
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred and may be required by state/contract
- Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Experience working in a school setting preferred
- Knowledge of educational assessment tools and techniques
- Ability to work effectively with children and families
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficient in using speech-language pathology software
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational and time management skills
