About the role

The Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) is seeking a highly motivated and energetic applicant for a Speech & Language Pathologist position. The ideal candidate will have a good attitude, willingness to learn, and passion for impactful work and learning.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct speech/language therapy to students identified as having a speech/language impairment and in need of special education services
  • Work with other IEP team participants to design, implement, and evaluate Individual Education Plans based on individual students' needs in accordance to IDEA
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and school support staff in designing, implementing, and differentiating curriculum, instruction, and assessment for a wide range of students
  • Communicate student progress to the student, parents, other teachers, related services staff, special education teachers/assistants, administrators, and/or other appropriate individuals
  • Evaluate student achievement and program effectiveness on a continuing and annual basis and revise programming as appropriate
  • Work with school staff to effectively transition students moving across levels

Requirements

  • Demonstrate basic knowledge in the assessment and use of assistive technology
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills (e.g., empathy, active listening)
  • Demonstrate strong and effective written and oral communication
  • Establish and maintain rapport with students

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech & Language Pathology
  • Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) teaching license in Speech & Language Pathology (820)
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or Hmong is desired for bilingual positions

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the needs of diverse learners
  • Ability to be a creative and flexible problem-solver who is able to work in collaboration with others solving problems as they arise

Benefits

MMSD offers a competitive compensation package, including a minimum annual salary of $68,901 (25-26 TE Salary Schedule), and a length of contract of 192 days. The employment type is Exempt.
