About the role

Provides direct speech language therapy services to students including conducting thorough screenings, assessment and diagnosis of speech, voice, and language impairments; interprets results to parents and teachers and writes appropriate recommendations and reports.

Develops, implements, and monitors IEPs for students eligible for speech and language services.

Provides appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet individual student's needs and correct existing speech and/or language dysfunction.

Aids and guides teachers in observing, describing, and referring students with suspected and identified speech and language impairments.

Collaborates with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy by making suggestions for the student's daily activities.

Aids in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community, as appropriate.

Provides information and support to parents and families when appropriate.

Serves as a consultant to teachers and school staff members on topics concerning speech services.

Keeps thorough ongoing records for the individual student receiving therapy or other school provided speech services.

Participates in professional growth activities and keeps abreast of new developments in the field.

Establishes and maintains good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors.

Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.

Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology.
  • Current Arizona Standard Speech-Language Pathologist Certification.
  • Current Arizona Department of Health Speech Language Pathologist License.
  • American Hearing and Speech Association Clinical Certification of Competence preferred.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).
  • Possess a valid Arizona driver's license at time of appointment, and throughout employment.
  • Proof of current auto liability insurance at the time of appointment and throughout employment.
  • Personal transportation for job-related travel.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of reading and interpreting general documents such as employee handbooks and safety/training manuals.
  • Writing general correspondence and speaking effectively with others.
  • Adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Basic principles and applications of critical thinking and analysis.
  • Bests practices, trends and emerging technologies.
