About the role

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) serves as a key member of the Special Programs team, collaborating with regional instructional leaders, campus leaders, and teachers to enhance student outcomes. Responsibilities include setting ambitious goals for IDEA student achievement, assessing for communication disorders, and creating and updating Individualized Education Program (IEPs) aligned with instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Review and implement IEPs ensuring 100% compliance with ARDs and Re-Evaluations.
  • Create and update IEPs collaboratively with parents, general educators, special educators, and interventionists.
  • Maintain and review therapy notes, tracking logs, ARD logs, and evaluation logs daily and weekly.
  • Submit therapy logs quarterly and maintain SHARS (Medicaid) records and billing monthly.
  • Ensure and monitor student progress for quarterly progress reports.
  • Participate in annual performance reviews and submit required documentation.
  • Support the RTI Team in providing recommendations for speech interventions with high fidelity.
  • Conduct formal assessments, planning, and scheduling of ARDs alongside other specialists.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Communication Disorders from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Texas license as a Speech Language Pathologist from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
  • National Certification of Clinical Competence from ASHA.
  • Ability to manage student behaviors and provide recommendations to various stakeholders.
  • Excellent presentation, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of evaluation, habilitation, and rehabilitation of communication disorders.
  • Experience managing student behaviors and providing recommendations to general educators, special educators, interventionists, and parents.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Skills

  • Extensive knowledge in the appropriate selection of assessment tools.
  • Ability to interpret assessment results and identify students with communication disorders.
  • Ability to develop and implement appropriate speech IEPs aligned with students' academic needs.
  • Proficiency in managing and maintaining therapy notes, tracking logs, ARD logs, and evaluation logs.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay

Salaries for this role typically range between $78,900 and $92,000, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications, and in alignment with internal equity.

Schedule

This is a full-time on-site position located in Houston. Preference is given to candidates who live in the region or are willing to relocate.
