Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, with Master’s Degree preferred
  • MA Certification in Speech and Language
  • Ability to offer variety of services and complete assessments

Job Goal

To deliver a variety of services in speech and language and complete assessments for the purpose of educational planning.

Performance Responsibilities

  • Provide therapeutic services to students with a wide variety of speech and language disorders and delays both individually and/or in groups for elementary school students.
  • Perform diagnostic evaluations and implement treatment plans in relation to student needs.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement effective therapy that integrates student’s programs.
  • Serve as a consultant to school staff members in the development of services.
  • Participate in I.E.P. meetings and parent conferences.
  • Responsible for goal writing for I.E.P.’s.
  • Keep thorough records of the individual student receiving services.

Terms of Employment

  • 183 Days
  • Reports to: Special Education Coordinator and Building Principal
  • Salary and Benefits are consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Arlington School Committee and the Arlington Education Association.
  • The Salary Schedule is on our website.
  • Salary placement is based on Education and Experience.
  • Arlington has a well-established new teacher induction program with mentoring throughout the school year.
  • The first official work day in the 2026-2027 school year will be August 31, 2026.
  • New staff are required to attend several days of orientation and training during the last two weeks of August.
