Speech- Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA)

Responsibilities

  • Provide speech and language therapy services to students as directed by a supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Implement therapy activities and interventions outlined in student treatment plans and IEPs.
  • Deliver individual and small-group therapy sessions.
  • Collect and document data regarding student performance and progress.
  • Aid in preparing therapy materials and maintaining therapy resources.
  • Support students in developing speech, language, social communication, and functional communication skills.
  • Collaborate with teachers, educational technicians, special education staff, and related service providers.
  • Participate in team meetings and professional consultations as appropriate.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Assist with screenings, observations, and other activities as directed by the supervising SLP.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, families, and staff.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assisting, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or related field.
  • Current Maine certification/licensure requirements for Speech-Language Pathology Assistants, or ability to obtain required credentials.
  • Experience working with children and/or students with diverse learning and communication needs preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Current CHRC (Criminal History Record Check) or ability to obtain.
