Responsibilities
- Provide speech and language therapy services to students as directed by a supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Implement therapy activities and interventions outlined in student treatment plans and IEPs.
- Deliver individual and small-group therapy sessions.
- Collect and document data regarding student performance and progress.
- Aid in preparing therapy materials and maintaining therapy resources.
- Support students in developing speech, language, social communication, and functional communication skills.
- Collaborate with teachers, educational technicians, special education staff, and related service providers.
- Participate in team meetings and professional consultations as appropriate.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Assist with screenings, observations, and other activities as directed by the supervising SLP.
- Foster positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assisting, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or related field.
- Current Maine certification/licensure requirements for Speech-Language Pathology Assistants, or ability to obtain required credentials.
- Experience working with children and/or students with diverse learning and communication needs preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Current CHRC (Criminal History Record Check) or ability to obtain.
