Speech and Language Assistant (Anticipated 2026-2027)
About the Role
Under the direction and supervision of a speech-language pathologist (SLP), the speech-language assistant provides speech-language services to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in the schools. The assistant collaborates with the SLP supervisor on evidence-based interventions to help students achieve their speech-language goals and objectives outlined in their IEPs.
Responsibilities
- Provide speech-language services to students with IEPs under the clinical supervision of a licensed SLP.
- Collaborate with the SLP supervisor on evidence-based interventions and student progress.
- Assist in screening students to identify suspected speech-language disabilities.
- Maintain progress and tracking data using qualitative and quantitative information for individual students.
- Collaborate with the SLP to maintain a list of students on the speech-language caseload, including those screened and eligible for IEPs.
- Inventory and track speech-language intervention materials in the schools.
- Log therapy services using Easy IEP and provide progress reports in collaboration with the SLP.
- Work collaboratively with the Evaluation Team Leader and school team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in speech-language pathology.
- State license as a speech-language assistant through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
