About the role

The Licensed SPED Teacher (Mathematics) will work at Clifford Academy, a Massachusetts Chapter 766 Special Education School providing a year-round program focused on education, career development, recreation/fitness, and an individualized therapeutic approach. Under the direction of the Principal, you will implement individualized educational programs for special needs students, manage classroom behavior, participate in multi-disciplinary treatment teams, and prepare reports including Individual Education Plans.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and implementing individualized educational programs, including curriculum and lesson plans aligned with agency and facility guidelines.
  • Research and collect educational resource materials, and provide individualized academic instruction to students with varying academic performance levels.
  • Implement behavioral management programs within the classroom, including crisis intervention and use of restraints when required.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the facility’s behavior management principles, systems, and procedures (e.g., TCI training).
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary student teams, providing progress updates and receiving guidance to support treatment, behavioral, and educational goals.
  • Liaise with collateral staff, serve as a student advocate, and maintain a safe, orderly classroom environment.
  • Provide monitoring and coverage as needed (e.g., lunch, recess, field trips).
  • Serve on department, facility, or agency committees as appropriate.
  • Communicate with families and involve them in the educational program, including implementing family activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Mathematics (required).
  • Master’s Degree in Education or a related field (preferred).
  • Massachusetts Educator Licensure (required).
  • Special Education license (desired).
  • Previous experience in education and/or working with the program’s specific population (highly desirable).
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer, with the ability to learn new software applications.

Pay

The pay range represents the company’s good faith estimate at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be based on relevant experience, education, skills, and internal equity. Candidates with less directly related experience may be placed toward the lower end of the range, while those with extensive or specialized experience may be placed toward the higher end. Market conditions and budget considerations may also influence final pay decisions.
