The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, provides quality educational services to special education students from Kindergarten through Grade 12.
Responsibilities
- Special instruction
- Tutorial assistance
- Consultation and collaboration with general education staff
- Student-centered educational support and development
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university preferred
- Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract, or district regulations
- State Teacher Certification – Standard Elementary Teaching preferred
- State Teacher Certification – Standard Secondary Teaching preferred
- State Teacher Certification – Standard Special Teaching preferred
- Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement preferred
- Minimum of one year of teaching experience preferred
Additional Requirements
- Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Current CPR certification if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health Certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
