The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, provides quality educational services to special education students from Kindergarten through Grade 12.

Responsibilities

• Special instruction
• Tutorial assistance
• Consultation and collaboration with general education staff
• Student-centered educational support and development

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university preferred
• Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract, or district regulations
• State Teacher Certification – Standard Elementary Teaching preferred
• State Teacher Certification – Standard Secondary Teaching preferred
• State Teacher Certification – Standard Special Teaching preferred
• Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement preferred
• Minimum of one year of teaching experience preferred

Additional Requirements

• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
• Current CPR certification if applicable
• TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable
• Current Health Certificate (per contract or state regulation)
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
• Must be at least 18 years of age
