Position Details

The Special Education Teacher works under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator to provide specialized instruction, classroom support, and educational services to students receiving special education services. This role requires collaboration with general education teachers, support staff, and families to develop and implement effective educational programs and accommodations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Develop, implement, and monitor educational goals and accommodations
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, related service providers, and families
  • Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with state and federal special education regulations
  • Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
  • Assess student progress and modify instructional strategies as needed
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Valid California Special Education Teaching Credential required
  • California Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe Teaching Credential required
  • Minimum one year of classroom teaching experience preferred
  • Current CPR certification, if applicable
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD, or Chest X-Ray, if applicable
  • Current Health Certificate as required by contract or state regulations
  • Must meet all applicable federal, state, and local requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Preferred Qualifications

  • Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement preferred where applicable
  • Experience working with K-12 students across a variety of disability classifications
  • Strong classroom management and collaboration skills
  • Knowledge of special education compliance and IEP processes
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
