Responsibilities
- Sorting and receiving specimens in the department.
- Performing routine instrument maintenance on some equipment.
- Carrying out laboratory tasks such as centrifuging specimens, printing extra labels, recording data, specimen storage and retrieval.
- Preparing reagents and/or media in the department.
- Prepping specimens at workstations for testing, including building worklists, aliquoting specimens into sample cups, checking specimens for clots and fibrin, inoculating, and slide preparation.
- Conducting QA/QC duties as assigned.
- Resolving pending lists, finding missing samples, decontaminating work areas, performing weekly radioactive wipe tests, maintaining department records, changing gas cylinders, following PPE requirements and safety regulations, using the laboratory computer system, operating PCs, disposing of biohazardous material, completing training and competency checklists as appropriate.
Education/Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical assistant training is helpful.
- Math and science courses are preferred.

- The capacity to retain information once learned.
- The ability to interact courteously and respectfully with coworkers, both internal and external customers.
Pay
$17.20/hr* Offered pay rate will be based on education, experience, and healthcare credentials.
