Specimen Processing Specialist- PRN- 1st Shift

Job Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between the lab, clients, and patients.
  • Resolve internal & external customer requests via calls, instant messenger & email communications.
  • Communicate with customers in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Work in multiple databases to research complex issues and questions.
  • Provide customer education and information as needed.
  • Review test forms for accuracy and report any discrepancies.
  • Prepare and triage specimens for analysis.
  • Accurately identify and label specimens.
  • Pack and ship specimens as necessary.
  • Prepare and store excess specimen samples.

Minimum Qualification

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1 year or more of experience in a medical/clinical laboratory experience

Preferred Qualification

  • Associates degree or higher

Additional Job Standards

  • Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Familiarity with laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
  • Comfortable handling biological specimens
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Strong data entry and organizational skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Able to lift up to 40lbs.
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

Pay

$22-25 per hour.

Note: Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for these benefits. Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan. Employees who are regularly scheduled to work a 7 on/7 off schedule are eligible to receive all the foregoing benefits except PTO or FTO.
