SPECIFICATION QUALITY CONTROL SUPERVISOR
About the role
Manage the facility’s adherence to HACCP, SSOP, and SOP. Coordinate and supervise pre-operation sanitation, examine and verify cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and facilities. Resolve problems related to food safety, product quality, and employee issues. Communicate frequently with USDA regarding food safety and regulatory compliance. Direct, motivate, and monitor food safety and quality assurance employees. Conduct interviews and evaluate performance of current employees. Attend meetings related to customer expectations and satisfaction. Coordinate efforts with other facility departments to optimize company performance and meet management expectations. Work in extreme temperatures and able to lift 60 lbs. or more. Perform various other duties as needed.
Monitor and ensure adherence to all quality specifications of trim products. Oversee daily pre-operational inspections and quality checks performed by QA Technicians, including monitoring GMPs and food safety-related items. Responsible for motivating and managing QA Technicians as well as their safety. Train QA Technicians on trim specifications, food safety-related items, and other duties as determined by the Technical Services Manager.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED equivalent (additional education preferred but not required)
- 2 years of management experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred
- Knowledge of the beef industry with in-depth knowledge in the trim area
- Good communication and interpersonal skills; ability to maintain a good working relationship with plant management, employees, corporate, and USDA/FSIS
- Good decision-making and planning skills
- Ability to work 50+ hours per week and some Saturdays
- Extended walking and standing in a cold/freezing environment
