Specialty RN -Podiatry - Full Time - Days
About the Role
The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients, families, and caregivers in the Medical Group. The role promotes, assists, and advocates for patient and family health by completing the nursing process in support of a patient-centered approach and delivery model of care. The Registered Nurse collaborates with physicians, providers, and multidisciplinary care team members to assess, plan, promote, and evaluate quality patient care.
Nursing responsibilities align with the standards outlined for Registered Nurses in the NYS Education Law, NYS Office of the Professions, the State Nurse Practice Act, Code of Ethics for nurses, and ANA Standards of Care. The role includes teaching and health promotion for patients and families while adhering to the mission, vision, I-CARE values, policies, and procedures of Mohawk Valley Health System.
Responsibilities
- Delivery of Nursing Care (25%)
- Identify patient care requirements by establishing rapport with patients, families, and caregivers, and understanding the plan of care throughout the patient’s experience.
- Create a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support.
- Promote patient independence by setting care goals, teaching disease processes, health promotion, preventative care, medication management, and self-care skills.
- Collaborate with care team members and providers to adjust the plan of care as needed.
- Ensure quality care by adhering to standards and measuring health outcomes against patient care goals.
- Follow the MVHS and Medical Group patient-centered care model and regulatory standards.
- Safety and Environment of Care (15%)
- Protect patients, families, and employees by adhering to infection control policies, medication administration protocols, and controlled substance regulations.
- Utilize standard precautions and safety devices at all times.
- Maintain equipment, supplies, and inventory as appropriate.
- Ensure a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Patient Care Administration (15%)
- Document patient care accurately and timely in medical records in accordance with licensure and regulatory standards.
- Maintain continuity of care by communicating the plan of care with the nursing team and multidisciplinary team.
- Protect patient confidentiality and maintain a private environment.
- Anticipate and maintain needed supplies, equipment, and medications using MVHS ordering procedures.
- Continuing Education (10%)
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and mandatory in-services.
- Review professional publications and participate in department committee meetings or workgroups.
Requirements
- Current New York State licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification—must be obtained within 6 weeks of hire date.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in Medical Office Practice, Outpatient Setting, or Specialty.
Pay
$29.78 - $50.05 Per Hour
