About the role

Serve as the vital link between prescribers, patients, and pharmacy operations, promoting Baton Rouge General's pharmacy service offerings while ensuring a seamless medication access experience for patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing drugs, maintaining inventory, and keeping accurate records.
  • Collaborate with leadership, physicians, and support staff to promote expanded pharmacy program utilization.
  • Stay current on drug access programs and coordinate educational and outreach activities.
  • Streamline refill requests and communication between pharmacy, prescribers, and patients.
  • Recommend improvements to sales materials and workflow efficiency.
  • Procure and distribute patient medications as requested per policies and protocols.
  • Compound sterile and non-sterile products accurately following USP \ and \ standards.
  • Deliver medications and supplies accurately and timely to care areas.
  • Maintain medication stock levels, rotate and restock inventory, and prepackage medications for pediatric/neonatal use.
  • Accurately enter medication orders and maintain required documentation and logs.
  • Supervise assigned technician staff and processes, provide leadership, and address technical issues.
  • Participate in departmental quality improvement activities, inspections, and data collection.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with patients, prescribers, and healthcare teams
  • Demonstrated initiative, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • 1 year of pharmacy technician experience in a retail or hospital environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Pharmacy Technician Certificate from the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy
