About the role
Serve as the vital link between prescribers, patients, and pharmacy operations, promoting Baton Rouge General's pharmacy service offerings while ensuring a seamless medication access experience for patients.
Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing drugs, maintaining inventory, and keeping accurate records.
- Collaborate with leadership, physicians, and support staff to promote expanded pharmacy program utilization.
- Stay current on drug access programs and coordinate educational and outreach activities.
- Streamline refill requests and communication between pharmacy, prescribers, and patients.
- Recommend improvements to sales materials and workflow efficiency.
- Procure and distribute patient medications as requested per policies and protocols.
- Compound sterile and non-sterile products accurately following USP \ and \ standards.
- Deliver medications and supplies accurately and timely to care areas.
- Maintain medication stock levels, rotate and restock inventory, and prepackage medications for pediatric/neonatal use.
- Accurately enter medication orders and maintain required documentation and logs.
- Supervise assigned technician staff and processes, provide leadership, and address technical issues.
- Participate in departmental quality improvement activities, inspections, and data collection.
Requirements
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with patients, prescribers, and healthcare teams
- Demonstrated initiative, attention to detail, and organizational skills
- 1 year of pharmacy technician experience in a retail or hospital environment
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Pharmacy Technician Certificate from the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy
