About the role
The Specialty Equipment Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining both gas and diesel specialty and small tool construction equipment to support field operations. This role ensures that all assigned equipment is safe, reliable, and ready for field use, minimizing downtime and supporting project schedules.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair specialty construction equipment, both gas and diesel, including hydraulic and electrical equipment.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications, safety standards, and company policies.
- Affords assistance in loading and unloading equipment for internal and external customers.
- Safely operates a wide range of small tools and construction-related equipment.
- Maintains accurate inventory records including repairs completed, parts ordered, and stock levels.
- Serves as lead for the Small Tools shop, coordinating the work of crew members to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Collaborates with field operations to ensure specialty tools and equipment are available, serviced, and ready for use.
- Maintains up-to-date vehicle service and maintenance records.
- Supports company's zero-injury safety culture by adhering to safety programs, attending training, and ensuring equipment is maintained to the highest safety standards.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to support departmental and operational needs.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education: A High School diploma or G.E.D. or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
- Experience & Industry Expertise: Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of experience in the operation, repair, and maintenance of small equipment, both diesel and gasoline type engines and hydraulic equipment preferred. Construction industry experience a plus.
- Knowledge: Mechanical aptitude and strong ability to maintain construction tools. Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins. Working knowledge of safety practices and procedures while making mechanical repairs. Working knowledge of automated Foley Grinding Equipment. Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment with accuracy and speed.
- Physical Demands & Work Environment: Sitting for long periods of time working on the computer or attending meetings. Work site visits require walking on uneven ground, steep slopes, and exposure to extreme temperature and/or humidity. Some lifting of materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.

Pay
BASE SALARY RANGE: $74,167.00 - $103,833.00
Schedule
Typical office environment with adequate temperatures and lighting, low levels of noise. Demands of meeting tight deadlines. Exposed to the conditions of job sites which can include loud noise, dust, fumes, and extreme weather conditions prevalent at the time. May work various hours, including early mornings, dusk or evenings.
