Specialty Artist - MAC
About the Role
The Specialty Artist – MAC is responsible for maximizing sales in the MAC brand (including color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance) by engaging guests to determine their individual needs, assisting guests in the selection and purchase of merchandise, and maintaining overall store standards, including cleanliness and replenishment. They represent the image, products, and culture of Ulta Beauty and the MAC brand to the Ulta Beauty guest and support the Experience Manager (EM) through a focus on performance, people, and process.
Responsibilities
- Meet or exceed MAC brand sales and service goals and contribute to the store’s goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, omni-channel, and retail shrink.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships by interfacing with guests, maintaining an active preferred guest list, and following up on guest inquiries.
- Provide exceptional service by greeting and engaging every guest, personalizing service, offering samples, and recommending complementary products.
- Conduct professional makeup demonstrations, applications, lessons, skincare analyses, and product demonstrations to MAC and Ulta Beauty standards.
- Complete Skill Certification requirements within specified time frames.
- Stay informed about promotions, marketing initiatives, and industry trends to better serve guests.
- Book appointments for and support in-store events that deliver an unrivaled guest experience while driving sales.
- Contribute to an inclusive environment for teammates, peers, and guests.
- Share benefits of the guest loyalty program and maintain an active clientele portfolio for MAC brand sales.
- Serve as a brand ambassador by sharing product knowledge, makeup techniques, and MAC programs like “Back to MAC.”
- Maintain strong relationships with MAC brand partners through required trainings and event execution.
- Participate in ongoing training for professional development and sales performance.
- Collaborate with managers and associates to grow the business.
- Adhere to Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards, including the dress code.
- Keep assigned work areas replenished, signed, and faced, ensuring testers are available and maintained.
- Maintain cleanliness of the MAC brand area and other assigned spaces, including salesfloor, restrooms, and backroom.
- Participate in merchandise resets, planograms, marketing displays, inventory procedures, and shipment processing.
- Follow loss prevention best practices and execute other operational tasks as directed.
Requirements
- High school diploma preferred.
- Cosmetology or demonstrator license where required by state law.
- Cosmetics artistry experience preferred.
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle guest concerns and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Schedule
- Work a flexible schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Attend brand-sponsored trainings.
Working Conditions
- Frequent mobility, standing, bending, reaching, pulling, and pushing during shift.
- Continuous lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs.
- Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects during shift.
