Specialty Artist - MAC

About the Role

The Specialty Artist – MAC is responsible for maximizing sales in the MAC brand (including color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance) by engaging guests to determine their individual needs, assisting in merchandise selection and purchase, and maintaining overall store standards. This role represents the image, products, and culture of Ulta Beauty and the MAC brand, supporting the Experience Manager through a focus on performance, people, and process.

Responsibilities

• Meet or exceed MAC brand sales and service goals while contributing to the store’s overall retail and service targets, guest loyalty, omni-channel sales, and shrink reduction.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships by engaging with guests, personalizing service, and following up on inquiries.
• Provide exceptional guest service, including personalized makeup demonstrations, applications, lessons, skincare analyses, and product recommendations.
• Complete Skill Certification requirements and stay informed about promotions, marketing initiatives, and industry trends.
• Book and support in-store events and services to enhance guest experience and drive sales.
• Contribute to an inclusive environment, share knowledge of the guest loyalty program, and maintain an active clientele portfolio.
• Serve as a brand ambassador by sharing product knowledge, makeup techniques, and MAC programs (e.g., “Back to MAC”).
• Maintain strong relationships with MAC brand partners through training and event participation.
• Adhere to Ulta Beauty and MAC policies, including dress code, operational standards, and hygiene compliance.
• Keep work areas replenished, signed, and faced, and ensure testers are available and maintained.
• Participate in merchandise resets, inventory procedures, marketing displays, and shipment processing.
• Protect company assets by following loss prevention best practices.

Requirements

• High school diploma preferred.
• Cosmetology or demonstrator license where required by state law.
• Cosmetics artistry experience preferred.
• Strong sales, product, and service competency.
• Ability to build customer relationships, work independently or as part of a team, and handle guest concerns in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to attend brand-sponsored trainings.

Working Conditions

• Frequent mobility, standing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, and twisting during shifts.
• Continuous lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs.
• Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects.
