Specialized Programs Teacher Assistant - K.Ward ES.

9-month position, 6 hours per day. This role supports the 1:1 Aide program at Kitty McDonough Elementary School in Las Vegas.

About the Role

Provides one-on-one support to a student with special needs under the direction of the classroom teacher and special education team.

Responsibilities

• Assist the student with academic tasks, personal care, and mobility as outlined in the Individualized Education Program (IEP).
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment.
• Implement behavior intervention strategies as directed.
• Monitor and document student progress and communicate observations to the instructional team.
• Assist with classroom activities, transitions, and other duties as assigned by the teacher.
• Comply with all district policies, procedures, and safety protocols.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must meet one of the following:
  • Sixty (60) college credits from an accredited institution, or
  • Associate’s degree or higher, or
  • Pass the ParaPro Assessment with a score of 460 or higher.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families.
• Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.

Schedule

Standard day shift during school hours (9-month contract).
