About the role

The STAR program is designed to provide additional support to students who may need extra assistance in areas such as social-emotional learning. The primary goal is to help students develop positive relationships, manage emotions, establish positive behaviors, and make healthy choices.

Responsibilities

• Support students in developing social-emotional skills through group activities and individual counseling sessions.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to ensure consistent support for students.
• Document student progress and communicate with parents about their child's development.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills in supporting students' social-emotional needs.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Pass a background check.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children and adolescents.
• Knowledge of social-emotional learning theories and practices.
• Valid Nevada teaching credential or ability to obtain one within six months of employment.

Skills

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
