Specialized Programs Teacher Assistant - Centennial HS.

9-month position, 6 hours per day. Supports the Autism program at Centennial High School, Las Vegas.

Responsibilities

• Assist the certificated teacher in providing instruction to students with autism.
• Implement behavior intervention plans and collect data on student progress.
• Assist students with personal care needs as required (e.g., toileting, feeding, mobility).
• Support students in developing communication, social, and life skills.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized learning environment.
• Assist with classroom management and supervision of students.
• Participate in team meetings, training, and professional development.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher or administrator.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must meet one of the following:
  • 48 college credits, or
  • Associate degree or higher, or
  • Pass the ParaPro Assessment or equivalent local assessment.
• Experience working with students with disabilities, preferably autism.
• Ability to lift and move students or equipment as needed.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively in a team environment.
• First Aid/CPR certification preferred but not required at time of hire.
