About the role

The School of Information Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign seeks to hire outstanding specialized faculty members for two 100% full-time non-tenure track, open rank positions. The iSchool welcomes scholars with experience in policy and governance, dynamics and complexity in social sciences, computational modeling in social sciences and humanities, organizational behavior, or librarianship. Candidates with backgrounds in cognitive science, business, library and information science, sociology, anthropology, history, political science, and psychology are especially encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Deliver an effective and engaging classroom experience.
• Publish on topics related to information research and scholarship (Teaching Professors).
• Engage in pedagogical activities to make both an instructional and curricular impact within and beyond the department (Teaching Professors).
• Support the department through service responsibilities (Lecturers).

Requirements

Teaching Professors

• Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant field by the time of appointment.
• Preferred: Minimum of one year teaching experience equivalent to 2-3 courses.

Lecturers

• Master’s degree or equivalent degree.
• Some professional experience.
• Preferred: Minimum of one year teaching experience equivalent to 2-3 courses.

Schedule

• Assistant/Associate/Full Teaching Professor: 4 courses per year.
• Lecturer and Senior Lecturer: 6 courses per year.
