Specialist, Volunteer Recruitment
About the role
In order to achieve its ambition of serving 80,000-100,000 Fellows over the next decade, Braven is hiring a part-time Specialist, Volunteer Recruitment to support the execution of our volunteer recruitment strategy, helping bring in the thousands of Leadership Coaches, Professional Mentors, and Mock Interview Volunteers who make Braven's program possible each year.
Responsibilities
- Outreach & Lead Generation (50%)
- Research and post volunteer opportunities on listservs, professional networking groups, community boards, and other relevant channels to build awareness and drive applications
- Connect with Braven staff members who want to spread the word about volunteer opportunities, helping them craft targeted, personalized messages to their own networks and supporting their follow-up
- Support the launch and ongoing management of Braven's volunteer champions program, interviewing committed volunteers who can serve as advocates and help recruit others to join our programs
- Aid in LinkedIn Ads setup, supporting the Associate Director, Volunteer Recruitment, and the Associate Director, Volunteer Communications, in managing campaigns during active recruitment windows
- Info Sessions & Events (25%)
- Manage the logistics and coordination of Braven's volunteer info sessions, including scheduling, calendar management, facilitation, and post-session follow-up
- Support in-person volunteer recruitment events alongside regional staff and Employer Partnerships Directors as needed, including attending events, putting together materials, and supporting follow-up
- Conduct tailored follow-up with info session attendees and other prospective volunteers in the pipeline via email, text messages, and phone calls to move them toward completing an application
- Recruitment Communications Support (25%)
- Draft and tailor recruitment communications, including info session decks, outreach templates, reminder emails, and flyers, in support of active recruitment campaigns
- Communicate with volunteers to move them through the pipeline, helping address questions and re-engage candidates who have stalled
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- At least 2 years of work experience
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to write warmly, clearly, and in a way that moves people to action
- Highly organized with strong follow-through; comfortable managing multiple tasks and deadlines across a fast-moving recruitment cycle
- Relationship-oriented and energized by connecting with people, including building rapport and representing an organization they believe in
- Experience and comfort with digital tools, including Google Workspace, email marketing platforms, and social media; experience with Salesforce, Campaign Monitor, or LinkedIn Ads is a plus
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment about when to escalate or ask for guidance
- Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion

- Experience that has informed your belief in Braven's mission and has prepared you to work with, or for, Braven's student Fellow population

Compensation and Benefits
Braven offers competitive hourly rates based on the midpoint of the market among not-for-profit organizations of similar size. We believe in compensating staff members fairly in relation to each other, their qualifications, and their impact on behalf of the organization, and we take internal and external equity seriously. Given our commitment to equity, Braven does not negotiate compensation offers; instead, each offer is determined carefully using external and internal benchmarking. The hourly rate for this role is set forth $25 per hour. As a part-time, non-exempt position, hours will vary week to week in line with recruitment cycle demands.
Location
This is a remote position, and the person must live in one of our current Braven operating states: GA, IL, NY, NJ. There is an opportunity to work from our office if preferred.
