About the Role
The Specialist – Safety is responsible for monitoring, reporting, and documenting compliance with the Company’s safety-related programs, policies, and procedures, as well as state and federal safety regulations. Duties are performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Conduct workplace safety investigations and advise business departments on safety issues, concerns, and corrective actions.
- Independently perform workplace safety investigations, accurately report and record findings, and recommend corrective actions in compliance with regulations and Company policies.
- Respond to inquiries from business departments and Team Members regarding safety concerns, issues, or questions, and provide recommendations.
- Maintain safety records, including training, in accordance with state and federal regulations and Company policies.
- Monitor, track, and record workplace incidents, accidents, and injuries.
- Inventory, assess, and approve chemical supply orders for business departments and maintain a master log.
- Organize and schedule site visits with safety vendors or state agencies as necessary.
- Schedule and attend departmental and property-wide safety meetings, recording minutes or other documentation.
- Perform hazard assessments for business departments regarding the use of personal protective equipment or other safety equipment.
- Monitor business departments’ compliance with state and federal safety regulations, such as chemical supply use and storage, personal protective equipment, training, licensing, and accident-injury reporting.
- Track, record, and monitor business departments’ compliance with Company safety policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with other property business departments regarding safety programming, including Security, Risk Management, Workers’ Compensation, and Human Resources.
- Consistent and regular attendance is required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 21 years of age or older.
- Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain any certification or license required by law or policy.
- Safety-related certification, advanced training, or certificates in workplace safety, OSHA safety programs, or similar safety programming is preferred.
- 3 years of experience working in safety, risk management, workers’ compensation, or a related field, or experience managing employees or volunteers in outreach or human resources programs.
- Demonstrated experience in creating documentation, reports, maintaining accident-injury logs, conducting investigations, and researching issues.
- Working knowledge of OSHA and other state, local, or industry-specific regulations, accident-injury-incident investigations, and proper documentation of workplace incidents.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds and experience levels.
- Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift or carry 20 pounds unassisted.
- Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines.
- Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, team members, and outside contacts.
- Ability to walk, stand, stretch, bend, and kneel for prolonged periods.
- Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
- Work indoors and be exposed to environmental factors such as CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
