About the role
The Specialist, Quality Engineering plays a crucial role in supporting Narda-MITEQ’s Quality Management System (QMS), driving improvements, and ensuring compliance across the organization. This position is particularly important given Narda-MITEQ’s AS9100 accreditation.
Responsibilities
- Work with Operations, Inspection, Manufacturing Engineering, and Supply Chain to address daily issues.
- Data-driven assessment of processes, measurement of data, and interpretation to facilitate continuous improvement in manufacturing operations.
- Report Quality issues, metrics, and trends to the Quality Manager for Management Reviews and improvement initiatives.
- Identify RCCAs for nonconformances and customer complaints.
- Investigate discrepancies and nonconformities to develop disposition and recommend corrective action plans.
- Execute Failure Reports, CARs, SCARs, and Customer Complaints, leveraging support from other functions.
- Drive root cause analysis to ensure permanent fixes.
- Coordinate Material Review Board (MRB).
- Serve as the primary interface for quality-related matters with customers and suppliers.
- Evaluate and recommend critical supplier selections and drive continuous improvement processes, including leading on-site audits, evaluating prototypes, and approving supplier corrective actions.
- Answer questions and provide direction on quality-related topics.
- Execute AS9100 Compliance Activities (Internal and External Audits, Training).
- Conduct internal audits and work cross-functionally to resolve findings through Corrective Actions.
- Familiarity with dimensional measuring equipment (OGP, handheld measuring devices, etc.).
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or
- 2 years post-secondary/Associate's degree in engineering with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- Previous experience working in an AS9100 environment.
- Working knowledge of microelectronics products.
- Working knowledge of mechanical blueprints & tolerances.
- Technical expertise in aerospace engineering principles, attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
- Graduate Degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Experienced with Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS).
- Previous experience building an AS System.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma / DMAIC problem-solving.
- Experience with AS9102 First Article Inspections.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as Mil Specs 883, IPC-A-610, and J-STD-001.
- Experience interpreting customer contract flow downs.
- Experience with government projects, working with DLA/DCMA on onsite audits.
