Specialist, Procurement
About the Role
Aecon delivers complex and impactful infrastructure projects—from transformative transportation networks to critical energy, industrial, and nuclear programs. The Procurement Specialist will report to the Procurement Manager and be responsible for all purchasing-related activities, ensuring the timely delivery of materials and services to site at the right price. This role acts as a liaison between offices and field workers and requires strong knowledge of procurement policies and procedures.
This position requires access to nuclear facilities and information governed by U.S. federal regulations. Applicants must be U.S. citizens to meet eligibility and security clearance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Satisfy demand placed on the system on time.
- Create purchase orders in SAP, confirm purchase quantities and pricing with vendors.
- Adhere to Aecon’s preferred supplier sourcing footprint.
- Drive toward a zero-exception procure-to-pay process.
- Resolve price, delivery, account assignment, material, and service-related exceptions in real time.
- Increase the use and refinement of Aecon’s material master data.
- Verify all packing slips for pertinent information.
- Track all rental equipment and tooling.
- Clear open commitments and close purchase orders as required.
- Maintain and organize all related filing systems.
- Generate Vendor Corrective Measures when required.
- Perform other procurement administrative duties as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum two years’ experience in the construction industry; procurement experience is favorable.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, exercising judgment and initiative while multitasking.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to forge relationships internally within Aecon departments and externally with suppliers.
- Technical understanding of SAP and the procure-to-pay process.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Understanding of “total cost” concepts.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Independent thinker capable of taking initiative and finding solutions for challenges.
