Responsibilities
- Review and interpret mechanical environmental conditions provided in the statement of work and technical performance specifications.
- Develop internal loads to size equipment based on externally applied acceleration, vibration, shock, and other dynamic loads.
- Apply appropriate factors of safety when writing yield and ultimate margins of safety to demonstrate structural integrity and consider temperature effects on material properties and strength.
- Conduct hand calculations based on strength of materials and structural mechanics theory.
- Employ finite element analysis (FEA) using Ansys for structural dynamic analysis of complex geometry individual parts and/or multi-body assemblies.
- Analyze structural and thermal loads on electronic assemblies consisting of Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs).
- Optimize geometry and meshes in FEA to ensure accurate results.
- Support testing by setting up test setups, monitoring tests, analyzing data, and correlating results with test outcomes.
- Communicate effectively through presentations and documentation of analysis results in PowerPoint or Word documents.
- Mentor young engineers to build their knowledge.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
- Graduate Degree or equivalent with 2 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Experience with Icepak or a similar CCA modeling tool preferred, but not required.
- CAD proficiency.
- Ability to work to assigned schedules.
- Eligible to obtain a security clearance, although not required for employment consideration.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of related experience.
- Preferred additional skills include non-linear structural analysis, CFD, communication (written and oral), and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.

Pay
The salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C., Denver, or NYC areas is Min $76,500.00 - $141,500.00 Max. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
Schedule
9/80 On-Site - Employees work 9 out of 14 days totaling 80 hours worked and have every other Friday off.
