Responsibilities

Responsible for leading a multi-disciplinary Engineering Team through system requirements, design, analysis, test, hardware build, delivery and launch.
Defines and establishes the technical approach to meet assigned objectives. Including:

Mechanical Design: Experience with Precision Mechanisms, Mechanical Systems, GD&T (ASME Y14.5), Tolerance Analysis, Electro-Mechanical design, and motion systems.
Simulation & Analysis: FEA (Ansys), Thermal-Structural Analysis, Modal Analysis.
Prototyping & Manufacturing: Rapid Prototyping, Machining, Molding, Assembly, and Testing sometimes within an aggressive timeline.
Software: Experience with Siemens NX, or other high-end integrated CAD/CAM package.

Develops and performs testing to show proof-of-concept and/or qualification of new designs.
Prepares reports, formal documentation and presentation materials summarizing analysis results and present results to both external and internal groups, including leadership and customers.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience.
Option: Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience. Experience in the design and sustainment of complex Mechanical Systems, preferably in a Commercial environment. We want to bring commercial practices to DoW Programs.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoW Top Secret security clearance.
Must be a U.S Citizen.

Qualifications

Skills

Familiarity with maintenance and sustainment practices for complex systems.
Proficiency in design and 3D modeling of solids, surfaces, and assemblies (primary CAD tool will be Siemens NX).
Drafted detailed drawings with GD&T, collaborating with vendors for custom fabrication.
Proficiency in tolerance stack-up analysis for mechanical designs.
Performed advanced FEA on precision components, enhancing structural integrity and reducing failure rates.
