Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading a multi-disciplinary Engineering Team through system requirements, design, analysis, test, hardware build, delivery and launch.
  • Defines and establishes the technical approach to meet assigned objectives. Including:
    • Mechanical Design: Experience with Precision Mechanisms, Mechanical Systems, GD&T (ASME Y14.5), Tolerance Analysis, Electro-Mechanical design, and motion systems.
    • Simulation & Analysis: FEA (Ansys), Thermal-Structural Analysis, Modal Analysis.
    • Prototyping & Manufacturing: Rapid Prototyping, Machining, Molding, Assembly, and Testing sometimes within an aggressive timeline.
    • Software: Experience with Siemens NX, or other high-end integrated CAD/CAM package.
  • Develops and performs testing to show proof-of-concept and/or qualification of new designs.
  • Prepares reports, formal documentation and presentation materials summarizing analysis results and present results to both external and internal groups, including leadership and customers.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Option: Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience. Experience in the design and sustainment of complex Mechanical Systems, preferably in a Commercial environment. We want to bring commercial practices to DoW Programs.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoW Top Secret security clearance.
  • Must be a U.S Citizen.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with maintenance and sustainment practices for complex systems.
  • Proficiency in design and 3D modeling of solids, surfaces, and assemblies (primary CAD tool will be Siemens NX).
  • Drafted detailed drawings with GD&T, collaborating with vendors for custom fabrication.
  • Proficiency in tolerance stack-up analysis for mechanical designs.
  • Performed advanced FEA on precision components, enhancing structural integrity and reducing failure rates.
