Specialist, Machinery Maintenance

About the role

The Machinery Maintenance Specialist serves as a rotating equipment subject matter expert for the La Porte Complex. They drive improvements in diagnosis, inspection, documentation, repair, and start-up of plant machinery. They conduct root cause analysis and develop corrective action plans for poor performing equipment and systems. They mentor technicians, deliver technical training, and develop procedures to ensure compliance with Operational Excellence and industry practices. They assess technician skills, develop long-term maintenance and reliability improvement programs, and actively participate in the unit's Reliability Improvement Team. They champion changes needed to achieve site reliability improvement goals, perform quality assurance of shop and field work, review machinery notification backlogs, and set up repair BOMs and new materials in SAP. They assist with site and company shutdowns and turnarounds.

Responsibilities

• Affirms technician skills, develops long-term maintenance and reliability improvement programs, and participates in the unit's Reliability Improvement Team.
• Champions changes needed to achieve site reliability improvement goals.
• Performs quality assurance of shop and field work.
• Reviews pending machinery notifications backlog and provides scope of work to machinery planning.
• Creates repair BOMs and sets up new material in SAP.
• Supports site and company shutdowns and turnarounds.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a formal training program preferred (Millwright, Industrial mechanic, or Aviation Mechanic).
• Minimum of 10 years of rotating equipment related experience in the refining or petrochemical industry.
• Excellent knowledge of pumps, compressors, and turbines, their applications, and limitations, along with knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
• Strong computer skills: SAP, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
• Outstanding troubleshooting and decision-making skills to identify and implement corrective actions.
• Strong communication and demonstrated leadership skills to work with various levels of the organization and different departments.

Qualifications

Schedule
