Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, and installs RF Communication suites, schedules, and implements equipment required for testing and evaluating standards and special devices used in airport safety-of-flight manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements.
- Maintain a wide range of Air Traffic control electronics, including Airport Surveillance Radar, Instrument Landing Systems, voice recorders, UHF/VHF transmitters and receivers, and occasionally climb towers up to 200 ft.
- Assist multiple programs in installing and troubleshooting a wide range of RF communications systems.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on Airport surveillance Radar, Instrument Landing systems, Air Traffic Control radio communications systems, Tactical air Navigation equipment, Automated Weather Observation Systems, and Digital Voice Communications Switches as well as a myriad of support equipment.
- Provide support to multiple programs both on-site and abroad in installation and troubleshooting a wide range of RF communications systems.
- Work 9 out of every 14 days – totaling 80 hours worked – and have every other Friday off.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience.
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and maintaining Airport surveillance Radar, Instrument Landing systems, Air Traffic Control radio communications systems or similar electronics systems utilizing a broad range of test equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to acquire an FCC general radiotelephone operator license with radar endorsement within 3 months of accepting position.
Skills
- Experience with Airport Surveillance radar, BI-5 Beacon/IFF, STARS LITE Digital Display, Sensis Surveillance Data System, AN/FRN-45C FOS TACAN, Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS), MK-20A ILS Certification, Thales DME 415 SE, Harris/Sola Com Liberty Star III digital voice switch, CM-200 UHF/VHF transmitter & receiver, satellite uplink/downlink antenna experience, and RF cabling to include tower installations.
