Specialist, EH&S

About the Role

The EOHS Specialist drives world-class EHS performance at the site, oversees EOHS programs, and ensures the Company's compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations. This role provides mentoring, coaching, and training to all levels, develops compliance requirements, attends audits, and creates action plans to meet all regulatory needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintaining and implementing standardized EOHS programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, local regulations, and Wabash policies.
• Maintain all required environmental training, registrations, and permits for facility processes, equipment, or discharges.
• Provide guidance and support to management on EOHS issues and work closely with employees to improve EOHS programs and culture.
• Develop a thorough knowledge of facility processes, equipment, and materials, including pollution control devices and regulated equipment.
• Promptly address and notify the EOHSS Manager and Operations Manager of potential regulatory issues, incidents, or control device malfunctions.
• Aid in the timely preparation of regulatory submittals or required reports to agencies.
• Consult, develop, review, and implement procedures/SWIs to reduce EOHSS risks.
• Support the SDS program, training, and database by reviewing new SDS requests, auditing materials, and facilitating HAZCOMM training.
• Maintain a comprehensive recordkeeping system for compliance verification using electronic and hard copy records.
• Ensure immediate notification and action on EOHSS concerns.
• Manage vendor compliance in the online contractor management system as assigned.
• Attend training, meetings, and seminars to maintain EOHS proficiency.
• Support EOHS-related training programs to ensure employee knowledge of risk recognition, regulations, and requirements.
• Perform employee training as designated.
• Support Fire Protection Systems operation, testing, and recordkeeping.
• Assist with annual property insurance inspections and recordkeeping.
• Maintain fall protection equipment inventory and spill response/containment.
• Assist with development and review of Safe Work Instructions and Risk Assessment procedures.
• Drive a proactive safety culture and positive behavior reinforcement system.
• Support utilization of Ideagen and other EOHSS software systems.
• Develop, support, and review CapEx Projects for EOHSS and other categories.
• Occasionally purchase EOHS supplies, materials, PPE, equipment, etc.
• Perform EOHSS audits and inspections to support improvement activities and compliance.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required (preferred in Environmental, Safety, or similar major).
